Peace in Times of Trouble
There is global uncertainty, economic instability and wars in various places. World powers align against each other. Terror and the chance of nuclear war are always in the foreground. The world is on edge. Innocent people are indiscriminately murdered without provocation. Evil will dwell in this world, but only for a short time. God is in control. He is Always in control. His plan is sovereign. His plan is perfect. Though we don't understand it all, please know that there is nothing or no one who can prevent God from doing what He wants to do.
If you are a believer in Christ, then regardless of what happens in this world, you will overcome through Him. We will all face trials. We will face sickness. We will face death.
Some face war and devastation.
Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble, but He doesn't want us to fear because He has overcome the world.
He has defeated death and Satan.
Jesus said this in John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
The Apostle Paul was in danger of losing his life many times during his ministry. He was shipwrecked, beaten, persecuted and imprisoned for his ministry. He ended up losing his life, beheaded, at the hands of the evil Roman emperor Nero. Paul wrote this to his friends in Rome:
Romans 8:35-38
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Regardless of what may happen to us in this world, there is peace with Christ for those in Christ, here and for all eternity.
