Peace in Times of Trouble

There is global uncertainty, economic instability, and warfare in various places. World powers align against each other, while terror and the threat of nuclear war always loom in the foreground. The world is on edge. Innocent people are indiscriminately murdered without provocation. Evil will dwell in this world, but only for a short time.

God is in control; He is always in control. His plan is sovereign and perfect. Though we do not understand it all, please know that no one and nothing can prevent God from doing what He wants to do. If you are a believer in Christ, then regardless of what happens in this world, you will overcome through Him.

We will all face trials, sickness, and death. Some will face war and devastation. Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble, but He tells us not to fear because He has overcome the world. He has defeated both death and Satan

Jesus said this in John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

The Apostle Paul was in danger of losing his life many times during his ministry. He was shipwrecked, beaten, persecuted, and imprisoned for the sake of the gospel. Ultimately, he was beheaded and martyred at the hands of the evil Roman emperor, Nero. Yet, despite his suffering, Paul wrote this encouraging message to his friends in Rome:

Romans 8:35-38
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ

Jesus our Lord.

Regardless of what may happen to us in this world, there is peace with Christ for those in Christ, here and for all eternity.
