The Believer's Home
This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life. 1 John 2:25
We are just passing through this world,
one heartbeat away from eternity.
For true believers in Christ, this world is not their home. Hell is not their eternal home.
Heaven is their eternal home, in the presence of God. Those who die in Christ are ushered to Heaven, into His presence. but we are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
While we live in this world, in these earthly bodies, we have no idea how beautiful and glorious Heaven is. But scripture gives us a glimpse.
Hebrews 13:14 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.
Being a Christian is hard. For centuries people have suffered and died for their faith in Jesus Christ.
Today people are suffering and are being put to death for their faith in Christ.
These people are called martyrs.
Thankfully that is not happening in America, however there may come a day when it does happen.
The persecution of believers will never end until the second coming of Christ.
Why would a person die for their faith in Christ? Why not just deny Him? Because this world is not their home. Christians are strangers in this world. Their heavenly home awaits them. Their heavenly Father will welcome them. Jesus Christ is preparing a place for them.
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14: 1-3
Heaven is for those who have died in Christ and those who will die in Christ. The world in which we live will end. Heaven is eternal. It is Paradise with God, a place without sin, sickness, sadness, or death. A place of glorious and never-ending joy, where there will be pleasures forevermore, in the presence of God. It is a place of unimaginable beauty, with streets of gold. See below for a glimpse of this literal Heavenly place.
Here are more encouraging scriptures for the believer.

But, our glorified body, received from God, will live forever.
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1
True believers are strangers here on earth. We are just passing through.
Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Revelation 21: 1-2 A Future New Heaven and New Earth
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
Death has no power over the believer.
It is not the end, but the beginning.
because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. 2 Corinthians 4:14
Revelation 21: 15-21 The New Jerusalem from God. Literal. Real. Physical and eternal.
The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
