She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet "Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel" (which means, "God with us").

Our Sins were upon Him.
BC Isaiah 53: 4-6
Written 686-739 years before Christ
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Hundreds of years after Isaiah's prophecy
AD Matthew 27: 26
Flogged and Crucified by the Romans.
... and when he scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.
AD 1 Peter 2:22-25
He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
